An award, and me !

The thing I love most about  my blogging journey so far, is all the wonderful people I have 'met' through blogging and how supportive the community can be.

I have formed close friendships with some absolutely gorgeous women, whom I am very honoured to call my friends. And its so comforting to know, that if and when you are having a hard day, at the click of a button and a tap at the keyboard, there are any number of people there to lend an ear, offer advice and support.
A friend once said to me that bloggers and blog readers have their own little language, and I guess we do. We speak from the heart ( And I have recently learnt that this is NOT good thing) , have codes ( FYI DH means Darling husband not Di*k h*#d) for our beloveds and leave our lives open to criticism and negative nelly's.

Anyway, this award and tag game is to share some bloggy love and show support for one another!

I was lucky enough to be tagged by Lisa at Mummy Manifesto, so please take a few moments to check out her little space.

The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.

What is a Liebster? The meaning Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

THE RULES:

■Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
■Answer the Questions that the person who tagged you created, then make 11 questions of your own for the people you tag.
■Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
■Go to their page and tell them.
■No tag backs!!

11 things about me…

1. I have 4 children, 2 boys, 2 girls.
2. I used to own and run a hairdressing salon, with 7 staff
3. I love the beach but hate having sand everywhere
4. I have a thing for playing with ears.
5. I have always lived in the same town , well, excusing a 6 months when I was a newborn but who can remember that?
6. I used to hate broccoli but now I like it
7. I got Glandular Fever at 16 and left school after missing too much to continue
8. We were 20 when we purchased our first house, a few months after we got married.
9. I like to scrapbook. I like it a lot!
10. My favourite colour is white, yes I know its not really a colour
11. I come across as a very strong and confident person, really I am just a big softy.

The 11 questions Mummy Manifesto have for me to answer:

1. Where would you like to travel before you die?  Absolutely. I'd love to see Paris, walk the winding alleys of Venice again (this time without an 18 month old in a stroller, sick as a dog , pregnant with twins!) , strut my stuff in Manhattan ( Sex and the City style) and relax on a sandy beach in Tahiti. But our time will come

2. High Heels or ballet flats? Hmm I'm definately a Ballet flat kind of girl now. Aren't they the Mummy uniform?

3. Where did you meet your partner-if you have one? My partner of 10 years and husband of 7 1/2 actually met through a mutual friend, at a teeny bopper party. haha

4. What was your first car? A red Daihatsu Charade hatchback. I had fluffy leopard print seat covers and a loud radio. Plenty a time that car was filled to the brim with girlfriends, cruising around town, music blaring and singing our lungs out!! Probably to Sk8ter boy!

5. What is your favourite blog and why? Ohhh gosh , I have so so so many favourites. I read different blogs for a different reason. Some for organising inspiration, some for craft ideas for kids, some for their heartfelt honesty! I can NOT narrow it down!

6. Favourite dessert? I don't really have a favourite. I like all deserts, haha . I don't like cream or custard though! Strange huh?

7. When was the last time you wore red lipstick and why? Only a month or so ago, I love red lipstick. So classic! My husband and I went out for tea for his birthday !

8. Who are you inspired by? My friends, my family. But most of all, my parents.
They instilled good values and worked so so hard when we were kids. My Dad worked 4 jobs , nearly 20 hours a day, to give us the life. They have been together since they were 12 /13 years old and are my constant source of strength and support.

9. Worst subject at school?  Chemistry!! I hated it. Needed it for what course I wanted to do at Uni, yet hated every minute.

10. What music do you clean your house to? The same music I listen to on an everyday basis. I just put my iPhone on shuffle and away it goes. Meaghan Smith, Frances England, Sister Hazel, Little Birdy Anything!

11. What motto or quote do you live by? Be yourself, Everyone else is taken!

Meme - Quiz Me

After reading a great post by one of my favourite bloggers Lisa, at Life As We Know It tonight, I got inspired and thought I would play along with the game. I always seem  to learn something about myself, and its rather fun trying to think of answers. The list comes from Sunday Stealing, and is available HERE.

1) Which TV character do you think you are most like?
Hmmm there is nothing like being thrown in the deep end and being stuck ont he first question!!
I think I may be a good mix of a few characters!! My husband thinks I am like Bree off of Desperate Housewives, hmmm not sure that is a good thing! But I'm not sure I can put my finger on any others, do you have any ideas? Who do you think I am like?

2) What time do you go to bed?
I'd like to say 9/9:30pm, but its just not true!! I am a night owl. I am absolutely cactus when all the kids just go to bed and seem to get a second wind about that time, and feel like I could go all night!! I know , I know, its bad for me and I need the sleep. Believe me, I KNOW!! But I think it has more to do with a matter of achievement. I have mentioned before that I like to feel like I have actually achieved something for the day and often that doesn't happen until the kids are snoozing! So really, its more like anything between 10:30-12pm

3) What was the last meal you made from scratch?
Does a sweet count? Just tonight, at around 8:30pm, I was whipping up a Peppermint Slice to take to Playgroup tomorrow morning, but last night we had a Hearty Beef Casserole in the slow cooker, so that would be it!

4) What is your favourite type of music?
BC (before children) I used to have a really wide range of music that I liked, however since having the kids, my music tastes have changed. Almost settled. I figure I hear enough noise, screaming, shouting , crying , etc for the day, the last thing I want to listen to , is singers doing the same. So I like Jazz, acoustic, folk sorta style music. I LOVE LOVE Adele at the moment, think she is great, potty mouth and all. She has such confidence, and doesn't care what she says and when she says it!!

5) In what position do you sleep?
On my side, feet hanging out over the blankets and arms under my pillow . And I pretty much stay like that. Oh and I like to face the door, and my back to hubby. I figure if someone breaks in, I want to see them, not get snuck up on!! Yet again BC, we used to sleep entangled in each other. Every night, at least something of our bodies were touching, and we would spoon and sleep comfortably like that all night. Not now. NOOOO sir -eeeeee!! A few pregnancies and ouchy pelvic issues put a stop to that and the habit is broken!

6) What is your favourite childhood memory?
Ohhh I have alot. I had a great childhood. The best of everything and my parents worked bloody hard ( like my Dad worked 3 jobs and my Mum went back to work when I was 9 months old, yep they are absolute legends and I have the MOST respect for them!) so we have alot of fond memories.
Trips to Lucky Bay with my cousins, were I learnt how to drive (thanks Emma!! Maybe the landy should have had brakes though!!) nights at the speedway watching my Dad , and me wearing possum earmuffs (they were grey with a pink nose and fluffy) Of my Birthday cake when I was like 7 or 8 maybe? A round carousel cake , with fairy figurines holding ribbons from the centre, blue icing (which I later threw up as I ate too much) and a wonderful fairy birthday party!!
See I could go on!

7) What is your least favourite smell?
This is a hard one, there are soooo many awful smells , and I fear I have inherited my fathers nose , and its a sensitive one! Purhaps BO (Body odour), like I am talking , bad bad BO, and vomit. Ick

8) Its your round at the pub and your friends asked you to surprise them. What drink would you buy and why?
Definately a round of Alize' and Lemonade!! Yummo! The obsession started in Sydney a few years back when I went over with a friend for the annual 'Hair Expo" and we drank it til we were blue in the face, literally!! Yummo. Either that or Gin and Tonics.

9) What was the last thing you read/watched that made you cry?
Honestly? I am an absolute SOOK!! And it was about 15 minutes ago, and a note that came home from school!! We are invited to watch Stella's Kindy class do a performance for us for the end of Term and celebration of Easter! I cried just thinking of it, imagine how I will be watching the darn thing?

10) They say you learn something new everyday. What was the last thing you have learned?
That I am NOOOOO computer whiz and that Facebook is being a twang!! I hate not knowing how to do things on the internet and computer, it frustrates me no end!

11)Which Literary love interests would you snog, marry and avoid?
I would snog/ marry Alexander from The Bronze Horseman (Paullina Simmons book) and I am sure there are more, but purhaps sleep deprivation is causing Baby brain, yet again!

12)Vegemite....Love it or hate it?
I do love it! Not too thick and has to be put on HOT toast with the butter melting. Yum

13) What is your favourite quote/saying?
Ohh I have SOOO many, just ask the habib! "Cos thats the way I roll", " 50 million times" , but my favourite "Cos I said so!!" haha)

14) Paper back, Hardback or Kindle? Which of these is your favourite reading format and why?
I would say Kindle, on the iPad, LOVE LOVE my iPad, otherwise paperback , or high glass magazine pages may trumph them all at the moment!

15) If you could bring  back any cancelled TV series for another run what would you pick and why?
Party of five!! I can't remember the specifics of the show, but I just remember I LOVED it!

Fancy playing along? Simply fill out your answers to the questions and post a link to your blog post in the comments section on 'Life as we know it'

And before I sign off, I just wanted to thank everyone for the support and wonderful comments on my last post!! It was so lovely and uplifting to see mothers all sharing their experiences and troubles and no negativity!! Its the way Motherhood should be, this gig is hard enough, let alone making it hard for one another and judging each others decisions!
Night all

10 Things About Me- Tagging Game

In this wonderful world of the internet , I have met (virtually of course) , some VERY talented and wonderful women, and I have been lucky enough to be tagged by two of them to participate in a Tagging Game. Thanks to Clare from The HOME She Made  and Bianca from A Little Delightful. I LOVE these girls blogs, so please spare a minute to check them out for yourself!
WARNING: you may need several (hundred) hours for perusing past posts!

Right, back to the 10 Things About Me, hmmm such a tricky one, believe it or not! Trying to think of quirky things about yourself, I should have asked my Hubby, however, I am sure he would have thought of all the negative things!
Here is goes;

1) I am a bit of a clean freak. I like a clean floor and benchtops, everything to have a place and I tend to put the toys away in the Toy Room hundreds of times a day. It makes me feel better, thats all I can say! ha. My house is along way from immaculate, and it could always be cleaner and more organised, but I think its pretty good for the chaos that reins here on an everyday basis!

2) I am 26 (and a half) years old. Have done a Hairdressing Apprenticeship, owned a salon for 5 years and am now a Stay at Home Mum, so much in such little amount of time. No wonder life was crazy!

3) I hate custard!! Seriously. That warm, yellow, gooey stuff nearly makes me gag! ICK. VERY very rarely, something sweet might be around and if I feel like it, I might try it, but as a general rule. I just don't like the stuff. Crazy I know! And cream?! Only on scones, that is it!!

4) Like SO many other people participating in this tagging game, I too, have a "Foot thing". I may of spoken about it before, but my feet are a bit precious to me. haha. I can NEVER, EVER go to bed with dirty feet. Even in the good old nightclub days (very few of them mind you) but I would shower when I got home, or at least wash my feet in the bath. NOTHING worse than going to bed with dirty feet, yuck!
I moisturise them every night, and if I have to get out of bed for some reason, I have to re apply the cream. EVERY. TIME.
I also sleep with one foot hanging out of the covers, all the time. Rain ,hail or shine. The foot is out.
Weird huh!

5) I know in my last post I spoke about my special friends, but I am also blessed that I have 2 gorgeous friends, that are always going to be in my life.
My husband- met him at 17, engaged at 18, married a month after I turned 20 and our first bub at 23 (and now 3 babies and 3 years later) , He is honestly my best friend. LOVE him to bits, always will, and I really treasure that we are best friends and partners. I think its so important that you have great communication in a relationship, and we have that! xo
My Mum- She is my rock. The hardest worker I know (apart from my Dad) , she thinks about EVERYONE before herself, is always there for me and I can tell her everything, well nearly ;)

6) One day, I hope to be a teacher. I would love to study, Early Childhood and be a kindy/Preschool/ Year 1 teacher.  One day

7) I love summer, hate winter. Can't stand being cold, and love spending time outside and the beach! However, its strange that I have a really HOT body. Always have hot hands and feet , and its rare that I wear a jumper in winter, but I hate it all the same! If only I had that perfect bather body, not likey from this little duck!

8) I am impatient. Like the most impatient person you will ever meet, and unfortunately , it seems all our kids have inherited this from me ! Oh dear! Lucky for us, Darling Husband and Dadddy, is VERY patient, and helps to even things out a little ;)

9) I like cheesy TV series, chick flicks and trashy shows. Not that I get a chance to watch them anymore, but give me a disc set of One Tree Hill, 90210, Better with You , all that teenage/predictable stuff and I am in heaven! Hmm Now to organise something to watch when feeding in the middle of the night . Normally I watch Sex and the City, for like the 100th time, season by season, but its time for a change!

10) Last but not least, I am a compulsive washer! As in doing the laundry. Everyday. If its laying around, it gets washed. My husband has taken to hiding things so they don't get washed and get a good wear first! I just hate baskets full, nothing better than washing on the line, folded and put away in the same day!!
Now that would have been negative thing my DH would have suggested!!
So I am now tagging a few people to continue the game; Quite a hard task as everyone seems to have already participated! But passing on to
The wonderful girls at Ollie Rose   and
Mandy from A Little Space Like Home

Anyway, small, trivial and uninteresting, but about me all the same! Now you can't get those 10 minutes of your life back, but I hope you had a good chuckle!

Useless stuff

We all know how much I love Sundays. Fun and family = favourite day! Today was no exception, I headed off the the Annual Patchwork and Craft fair , and had a ball. Scored some goodies, picked out the twins Christening outfits and I seriously can't believe the amazingly clever people in our town!!
We had a BBQ lunch with friends, the kids played happily and we chatted away the sunny arvo, ahh bliss!! I LOVE summer!!
To top it off, we got a phone call from the Horrocks Beach Chalets (we have been on the waiting list since Dec 09) and we are in!! So we are excited already about a week in the gorgeous little place, leaving Boxing Day. I seriously can not think of a better way to recover from the crazy Christmas season in the salon!!

Today I'd like to share 10 totally useless facts and info about myself, and would like to pass the challenge onto other fellow bloggers to do the same, so these are the blogs I am paying it forward to; Kristy from Bread N Butter Factory ,  Jess from My Family Our Home and fellow twin Mum Anne-Marie from Curiosity Killed The Cat. Love to see your useless stuff too, its always the best stuff to know!

My 10;
1) I HATE brocolli, its gross, don't mind it raw, but cooked bleh!! Its the texture, all furry and stuff
2) My eyes change colour with my moods and emotions, sometimes blue, sometimes green
3) I drive a "mini van", and I LOVE it!!
4) I have a 'thing' for white, if you hadn't noticed!!
5) Noel and I have been together for 7 1/2 years, doesn't sound like long, but it is when you are only just 25!!
6) My favourite colours are Orange, green and wait for it - White of course!!
7) I don't like white chocolate, custard or fresh cream. Weird I know, but its true, yucky!
8) I am a Sex and The city fan, like BIG time, know each season, episode, lines , the whole lot!
9) At primary school, I was a book worm, I still love books and reading, but I used to organise them in alphabetical order, just like at the library, and pretend I was a teacher!
10) My favourite things in my life are my 3 adorable children and one gorgeous (and 6ft 9in) husband!

That was harder than I thought, trying to think of stuff I haven;t already spoken about!!
Off to bed, surprise suprise, the night owl having an early night!

Stay tuned , hopefully tomorrow I will post a pic of my GORGEOUS quilt top , made out of Anna Marie Horner fabrics. I got them on sale and my Mother in Law is a very talented quilter , remember she made this ,and she is making me one to throw over the couch and it is to die for!!
Night all, enjoy!
New wool for a new project!
