Fifty Shades of..... blushing

Mission Complete. I came , I read, I obsessed, I finished.
Mission "Read these popular books" is complete.
Remember I posted about my intent HERE
I must admit, to begin with, I think like everyone else I was a bit 'meh'.
It seemed rather boring, took a fairly long time to get into and I don't usually like that in a book. I lose interest, put the book down and don't start it again for another 12 months when we go on holidays again.
However these were different. I knew they had to get better, or everyone was raving about some seriously boring stuff.
And boy did they get more interesting!
I finished all 3 books in 4 days. I liked them. I liked them a lot!!
Do I think there were well written? Not particularly.
Do I think that they were super interesting? Not really.
Do I think some of the content was a bit..... off? Maybe.

But you know what?! Who cares!! Seriously!
I am no writer, so who am I to judge? I find it amusing that all these critics/ bloggers/wannabe book reviewers are writing these scathing, negative reviews. Knocking the writer and her talent, the story line, the "raunchy" scenes and the "behind all the sex scenes the story line was lame" sorta attitudes.

To me a book is about entertainment. They take me to a world and place that is different to mine. Its a break from reality and a bit of fun. I think if people are taking books too seriously, then they need a bit more spice in their life!! Just sayin', a bit of Christian Grey kinda spice maybe?! Just sayin'.

Behind all the Mummy Porn stuff ( and I am NOT saying I didn't like it, hmmmm I perhaps did, and so did my husband, let me tell you! ;)) I really liked the story line. My good friend actually summed it up well, the story line is one for everyone to think about. Looks can be deceiving, and people manage to put up pretty good fronts. I think it was a great reminder that in life we are all too quick to judge people and they way they are. Because sometimes they have been dealt a pretty terrible hand, and this defines and makes them who they are. Or at least gives them a bit of an excuse for their behaviour. You just never know.
Not only that but also about change. It is possible for people to change, to improve and take a more positive step in their lives, all with a bit of love , guidance and TLC.

Without giving too much away , Christian had a terrible start to life, in the most influential years of a child , and had some terrible things done to him. Then as a teenager, there were some "complex" issues to kick start his sexual experiences and these all made him a bitter, troubled soul.
Then he found Anastasia.

Henry Cavill- British Actor and voted as the best image of Christian Grey yet, on the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy Facebook page. Who would you choose to play him in a movie?

So... all in all... I love them!! I miss the characters, I miss the gorgeous Christian Grey and I miss the love and passion they have for each other. I think you know when you genuinely enjoyed a book when you can say that about the characters.
The books have given me a new outlook on my relationship with my husband and my love for him (excuse the sappiness) but it really does make you realise just how lucky you are sometimes.

The OMG kinky moments were a tad hard to digest, but it takes all sorts of people , and they were enlightening and entertaining that is for sure!

And as a result of the books? I am sure there are plenty of husbands and partners out there that loved them just as much!!!

So if you haven't read them already, I encourage you to do so, what have you got to lose?
Laters baby....

The latest craze!

So it seems I have surcummbed to the latest craze for Mummies!
What do they call it ? Mummy Porn? Why its the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon of course!!
To say I was feeling left out , is rather an understatement, as it seems every man and his dog, or rather every woman and her friend, have read or are reading (and getting much pleasure from it too!) the book series!!

Now I am not normally a trend follower! Not on purpose. As in, I don't purposely set out to buck the system and its not out of spite. I am just never interested in them.

First there was the Da Vinci Code. Sounded interesting, and I am sure one day, I would like to read it, but it was a bit too heavy thinking for me at the time of release. I just didn't have the brain space for all that information and speculation.

Then , a few years down the track, came the Twilight craze!! My lord!! People were siding with characters , 'Team Jacob' or whatever ( I hope I refering to the right book here!) and it seemed like yet again, everyone was reading, watching, lusting , crushing on someone or some character.

Now, 2012 craze is the sensual (and I have heard explicit and raunchy) series featuring Christian Grey! Everyone has been staying up to all hours , spending days reading these addictive books. Kids around the world are being neglected ( not really , but you know what I mean) because Mum is busy reading. Apparently you need to just sit down, read them and get it over and done with, get it out of your system.
If there isn't talk at morning teas, its at playgroups, Mums nights out, Facebook banter. You name it , nothing is safe anymore. And now people are trying to pick a celeb to play Christian , if it was to be turned into a movie. Who fits the profile for you?
Whoever it may be , I sense a lot of husbands/partners have been walking around with more than a smile upon their faces lately, so they may not object to their better halves reading such nonsense.

So.... now that the Baptism is done with (post coming with details and pics tomorrow) , I am about to embark on my journey with Christian Grey. Wish me luck, see you on the flip side!

A few things

Stopping by to share a quick post with you about our " Start of School" organising.
I have been terribly tired of late, even falling asleep ON TOP of our bed whilst watching TV or whilst trying to motivate myself to get up and start Scrapbooking or something. *YAWN*
So the lack of posts are for this reason. I have a planner full with posts, its getting them written that seems to be the problem! Anyhoooo

Last weekend saw the start of many "Back to School" haircutting sessions, with me doing the 3 oldest kids ( Angus certainly doesn't need one and it will be a fair while before he does, he is quite the baldy!)

I created a few wardrobe dividers to help with the Wardrobe organisation of Stella's school clothes. Post of the complete wardrobe coming soon!
I feel I must say that my husband laughed his little head off at me for making these!! He thinks they are a silly idea, and that they are not needed. In my defense, I do things like this because I can. Seriously!!
(I must make a point too that my hubster is a VERY supportive and helpful man, and puts up with ALOT of these sorts of things from me! HaHa)
In my life, and day to day happenings, there are so many things I can not control ( and I am a control freak!) , so many things I can not change and that I have to just live with. If the kids are having a bad day,  I can't control that. If we have alot on our agenda, I can't control that. If I have an unsettled baby, I can't control that. What I CAN control are my surroundings. How clean my house is, how organised I am. How organised the house is. The games and crafts we play and do.
Seeing as though these are things that can make a difference to our lives and can be changed, I take the opportunity. And you know what? They may a difference to me! They make me feel better about the things I can't help and just have to deal with , and make coping with the hard times that little bit easier!! Anyone with me?! Get my drift? Feel my pain?
So, here are the funny wardrobe dividers , that are oh so cute!!

I started with some cute 8 x8 cardstock but you can use any card or paper for this , but the cuter the better I say! And also a few pieces of thicker card , I reused an insert from my new We R Memory Keepers Album.
I then glued the coloured card to the white card.

I used an old CD as the template and simply traced around the outside, on the back of the white card and cut out .

I then took out a small triangle in the side of each circle and completed them with some chipboard lettering, for labels.

                                                                    Aren't they cute?!

We have also started to read a few school based books, and found a few in our local Target store.
"The Things I LOVE about School "and a cute Charlie and Lola book (thanks Gemma!) "I am too absolutely small for school" and the third one is one I had when I was a kid called "Adams Apple".

So just a few small things again, that make all the difference. We also cleaned out her backpack ( using an existing one), wiped and disinfectant the new cooler bag, bought new school shoes ( on sale in Target for $8)  and purchased the school supplies.
I have also nearly finished the lunchbox baking, each item is gladwrapped individually and in the freezer ready to go!
It seems all that is left is labelling some containers for her lunch box and her waterbottle, purchasing a school hat and library bag and we will be set! Sob sob

Red Spot Boutique

Today I popped into our one and only large department store in G-Town. Target of course. The ever delightful Red Spot Boutique.
I have to admit, I actually love perusing the aisles and departments and Target was my first job, at the tender age of 14. Check out chick, then a promotion as I grew a bit older to the Refund/Exchange counters (horror after Christmas) before I resigned when I got my Apprenticeship.
Anyway, back to the shopping. Geraldton is a bit deprived. Ok, really deprived. For a city of its size, we are really disadvantaged in the Departments stores and Target has the Monopoly. Bring on BIG W I say!!!
However, that doesn't mean you don't nab a bargain or 10 every now and then!!

Today I picked up a few goodies, and thought it was only polite to share.

Two fantastic books, as amazing prices!!  The Annabel Karmel one is usually $29 but was on Clearance for $9.88. Apparently they only unpacked it this morning but there is a new version with a new cover , so this is on special!! YAY! There were a few there, so if your Target doesn't have them, let me know!!

And the Christmas Sorted book. I have a pink one about Home Sorted, but this is a fantastic organising book for the Silly Season. Craft ideas for kids, recipes, checklists. All the good stuff. For $10.88 Bargain!!

And of course a Jade inspired glass vase. Very Bed Bath and Table but on special at Target for $24.50. Can't wait to use it now!

So, there you have it. A few bargains I picked up today. Not super cheap, but all a fab price for very practical and useful items.

We had a busy but nice day today. Took the kids to Gym, Stella loves it and Max and Lacey just cruise around and play on everything, Lacey particularly likes climbing onto the mats and small tramps now. But no Gym outing is complete without a trip to McDonalds McCafe with a few lovely ladies for a coffee and play first!!

All my jobs were done yesterday, well alot of them, the floors, bathrooms, dusting, changing the sheets and a few loads of washing, so its always nice to have a down day just playing and chilling afterwards!! But back to it tomorrow!! The machine NEVER stops in my house, and neither do I!!

Market Place....

I have been rather distant lately, as I am madly preparing, sewing, making, tagging, cutting, stuffing and creating for the Baby and Kids Market, in Geraldton (my home town) this coming weekend.
It has seriously snuck up on me!! I remember thinking to myself, "Pfft, I have heaps of time" but alas, I do NOT!!

I had a break from sewing for a while few weeks, because, to be honest, I just didn't feel like it, and to me, sewing and Bizzy Dayz, is about loving what I do, if I don't enjoy it, and it becomes a chore , I refuse to keep going.
However, the break is just what I needed, I have come back with ideas galore and yet again, not enough time to complete all the new products that I would have liked to launch!!

BUT..... just a heads up on some newbies, I have HEAPS of baby shoes  made out of mega gorgeous fabrics, some little kitchen helper accessories, some super duper gorgeous applique tops, some different hair accessories for Mums and kids, gorgeous softies (lots for boys) and of course, the usual stock.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there, but for now, I will leave you with something that is one my Christmas list;

"Pieces of Me"
Janelle Winds - Pieces Of Me

 Available HERE
A gorgeous book, and I have hinted at my DH for this, lets hope he gets the hint. Whats on your Christmas List?
